Frequently Asked Question
What is the adoption fee?
-
Adoption fee for 1 year and under is $400. Adoption fee for older than 1 is $300. All adoption fees are waived for all active duty and combat veterans.
What does the adoption process look like?
-
Once the application is submitted, we will reach out to set up a time to talk. We do try to match the correct dog with the correct person to ensure the best success possible. We do not require a home check.
Where do the dogs come from?
-
All of our dogs come from Southern Texas where the stray population is out of control.
How can I see who is available?
-
All of the available pups are listed on our website and also on our Facebook page.
Can I come see the dogs?
-
We are not a shelter where we house the dogs/puppies on site. We are a foster only rescue and all of our pups are placed into foster homes upon arrival. We do hold adoption events that you may attend to see all available pups. Please check our events page for any and all upcoming events.
What is included in adoption price?
-
All pups will go home with collar, leash, age appropriate vaccines, current health check from a licensed veterinarian, and spayed/neutered if old enough.
What to expect when bringing a new pup home?
-
We do recommend that you allow 3 days for the pup to decompress, 3 weeks to learn the routine, and 3 months to fully feel at home.
What if you need to rehome your dog?
-
All pups adopted through Little Charlotte's Rescue need to be returned to the rescue. Please DO NOT rehome or post Little Charlotte's dogs on any Facebook rehoming sites.
Will you take owner surrenders?
-
Since we are not a kennel environment and rely completely on fosters, we are not able to take in any owner surrenders that are not adopted from Little Charlotte's Rescue. There is a lot of behind the scenes that need to happen in order to do so, and at this time we are not capable of doing so.
Spay/Neutering?
-
If not already spayed/neutered upon arrival, we do require that all Little Charlotte's dogs are fixed before one year (or when your veterinarian agrees). There are many spay/neuter clinics around WI that are cost effective. Please check into Clark County Fix a Pet, located in Neillsville WI. Website: https://www.cchs-petshelter.org/fixapet
