What our fosters say....
“I will always let my heart break a little so their heart will never break again.”
"I never thought I could foster because it would be too difficult to give the dog back. It turns out it is so rewarding to know you were a small step in helping that pup find their family. The puppy kisses and snuggles are an added bonus!"
"I never thought I could foster but love to because when you let animals into your life, even as a foster parent, you are making a promise that you will take care of them for as long as it takes, until they find a home of their own. When they finally do leave, there's a part of them that stays with you and a part of you with them. I will always let my heart break a little just so their heart will never break again"
"I foster because I have an addiction to puppies! I get to play with and socialize puppies without the lifetime commitment."
"I foster because you can’t change a dog's past, but you can rewrite its future. You can show them what true love really is."
"I used to think fostering would break my heart—that saying goodbye would be too hard. But what I didn’t realize was how much joy, laughter, and healing it would bring. Every wagging tail, every shy cuddle, every small victory makes the goodbyes worthwhile. I love fostering because it’s not about losing a dog; it’s about giving them a new beginning—and being part of their journey to happiness"
"Fostering has taught me that love has no limits. It’s changed the way I see the world—less about what I can get, and more about what I can give. Each dog that comes into my home brings a unique story, a lesson in patience, resilience, and unconditional love. Letting them go is never easy, but seeing them find their forever families fills me with a sense of purpose I never knew I needed."
"I fostered Kevin (now PepperJakk) because his family never showed up to get him on transport day. I was supposed to meet Cheri later in the week to give him back. When my husband got home from work that night, they met for the first time. By Monday afternoon my husband said we couldn't send him back. He's ours now."
"Fostering has changed my life because dogs have a way of finding the people who need them, and filling the emptiness we didn't ever know we had. I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have my Sophie girl."
"I foster because every dog deserves a safe place to heal and feel love, even if only for a little while. Street dogs have already faced so much uncertainty, and knowing I can give them warmth, food, and kindness—something they may have never felt before—makes every moment worth it. Watching a frightened dog learn to trust again is one of the most beautiful transformations I’ve ever witnessed. It reminds me daily that compassion can change lives—both theirs and mine."
"Fostering has changed my life and my families life! When we foster we do it as a family. Everyone helps to show our foster love and care for them as if they are our own pet. I love watching them snuggle and love the fosters, knowing that we are only keeping them until they find a forever home. It has been a great opportunity to teach our children about responsibility and being a responsible pet owner. We have used this experience to educate them on where the dogs come from and why they travel so far to find homes. Anytime I am doing anything rescue related they ask to help because they care about helping too. I never thought I would foster because the thought of them leaving seemed hard. We still love them when they leave for their forever home but we know that makes room for us to help another dog."
